Bangladesh set to face off Sri Lanka in Asia Cup 2025 Super Four today
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to face off today (September 20) in the first match of the Super Four stage of Asia Cup 2025.
Bangladesh will play their all super four matches in Dubai.
Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh advanced from Group B, with Sri Lanka securing a flawless record by winning all their group matches. From Group A, India and Pakistan have already secured their places in the last four.
Just two days ago, Bangladesh’s hopes of reaching the Super Four hinged on Sri Lanka’s victory over Afghanistan — a task Sri Lanka successfully completed, allowing Bangladesh, led by captain Litton Das, to advance to this critical stage.
The two sides have met 20 times in international T20s, with Sri Lanka holding a slight edge — 12 wins to Bangladesh’s 8. In the Asia Cup T20 editions, they have clashed five times, Sri Lanka winning three and Bangladesh two.
In their recent group stage encounter, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by a comfortable margin, reaching their target with 32 balls remaining.
Following today’s encounter, Bangladesh players Litton Das and Co. will enjoy a three-day rest before facing back-to-back fixtures against India on September 24 and Pakistan on September 25.
