Bangladesh strongly condemns Rakhine hospital bomb attack
Bangladesh has strongly condemned a recent bomb attack on a hospital in Myanmar’s Rakhine State and expressed deep concern over growing violence and violations of international humanitarian law in the region.
The condemnation was issued in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 13.
The statement said Bangladesh expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the families of those killed in the attack and sympathy for all those affected by the violence.
It said Bangladesh emphasised the protection of civilians and civilian facilities, stressing that such sites and people must be safeguarded without discrimination in accordance with international humanitarian law. The statement also called for keeping all communities in Rakhine State, including Rohingya and Rakhine, out of violence.
It further said ensuring civilian safety and ending violence require responsible actions from all concerned parties.
At least 31 people were reportedly killed in an airstrike by Myanmar’s junta on a hospital in Rakhine State.
