Bangladesh T20 squad for New Zealand series announced

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the first two matches of the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand. Selectors have put together a youthful side, resting experienced pacers, while Abdul Gaffar Saqlain has received his first call-up to the national T20 team.

Pace attack stalwarts Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, along with pace sensation Nahid Rana, have been rested for the first two matches. In their absence, newcomer Abdul Gaffar Saqlain has been added to the pace attack. The 28-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder has earned his maiden national call-up due to his varied bowling skills in domestic cricket and his ability to hit big shots at the death.

The squad also sees the return of 23-year-old right-arm pacer Ripon Mondol. Having played three matches for Bangladesh at the 2023 Asian Games, this series presents a significant opportunity for him to become a regular in the national side.

The three-match series will begin on April 27 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
