Bangladesh take lead in 2nd day Test against Ireland with Joy's century
Bangladesh dominated the entire second day of the Test against Ireland. Mahmudul Hasan Joy's career-best 169, Shadman Islam's 80 and Mominul Haque's unbeaten 80 helped Bangladesh post 338 for one at the end of the day. The hosts are ahead by 52 runs.
Ireland were bowled out for 286 in their first innings on Wednesday. In reply, Joy and Sadman's opening partnership put on 168 runs - Bangladesh's highest opening partnership in a decade. Sadman was dismissed for 80 runs off 104 balls.
Joy and Mominul then took the team ahead without losing any more wickets. Joy scored his second century of his Test career and his first at home. Mominul showed signs of returning to form in his 23rd fifty. At the end of the day, Joy left the field unbeaten on 169 and Mominul on 80 runs.
