Bangladesh clinched a memorable 1–0 victory against India in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers on Tuesday (November 18).

To celebrate the achievement, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan announced a Tk 2 crore reward for the national team.

A 13th-minute strike from Shekh Morsalin sealed the win, as India failed to find an equalizer.

This is Bangladesh’s first-ever win in Asian Cup qualifying and their first victory over India in 22 years.

Bangladesh last beat India 2–1 in Dhaka in 2003. In 30 meetings, this is Bangladesh’s fourth win; both sides have 13 draws and 13 defeats each.

With Hamza Choudhury and Shamit Shome joining the squad, the team’s performance has visibly improved.

After close results against Hong Kong and Nepal, the long-awaited win over India brought much-needed relief and celebration for the entire squad.
