Bangladesh maintained their excellent form in the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers by securing a commanding 8–0 victory over Timor-Leste in their second group match on Thursday (August 8).

After beating Laos 3–1 in their opening game, this victory gives Bangladesh six points from two matches and a strong position in the group standings.

Trishna delivered an outstanding performance by scoring a hat-trick. She opened the scoring during first-half injury time and added two more goals in the 53rd and 83rd minutes. Her third goal was particularly remarkable—a flawless finish into an empty net following a solo run and an assist from Mosammat Sagorika.

The most memorable goal of the match came from Shanti Mardi, who scored an “Olympic goal” in the 32nd minute when her corner kick sailed directly into the net without any player touching the ball. Bangladesh also scored two additional goals from corners: Shikha headed in from a Swapna corner in the 20th minute, and just three minutes later, Nabirun Khatun scored with a header from another corner taken by Shanti.

In the second half, Bangladesh scored four more goals from open play. Sagorika scored a brilliant solo goal in the 72nd minute, and Munki Akter sealed the huge victory by scoring in stoppage time.

With this win, Bangladesh has accumulated 6 points and boasts a goal difference of +10. Their final group match will be against tournament favorites South Korea. While South Korea is likely to top the group, Bangladesh still has a strong chance of qualifying for the main tournament as one of the best three runners-up.
