Bangladesh to begin Women’s Asia Cup campaign against Indonesia tonight

Bangladesh will begin their campaign in the 10th edition of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup when they face Indonesia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday night (August 31).

The match is scheduled to start at 8:30pm (Bangladesh time).

Bangladesh are drawn in Group B alongside defending champions Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates (host) and Indonesia. They will face Sri Lanka on September 6 before taking on the UAE on September 8, with the top two teams from the group advancing to the semifinals.

After several semifinal exits, Bangladesh are targeting a place in the final this time. Captain Nigar Sultana Joty said before the team’s departure that they are determined to overcome the semifinal hurdle and go all the way to the title clash.

Bangladesh have won the Women’s Asia Cup once, defeating India by three wickets in the 2018 final in Malaysia. They also reached the semifinals in 2012 and 2024.

Eight teams are competing in the tournament, divided into two groups. The semifinals are scheduled for September 10 and 11, followed by the final on September 13.
