Bangladesh to face Afghanistan in Test, ODIs in October

Bangladesh are set for another busy international assignment immediately after the Asia Cup, with a Test and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan likely to be played in the United Arab Emirates in early October.

According to a report by The Stadium, preparations for the series are already at an advanced stage, with the venues reportedly finalised. However, the exact dates and match schedule are yet to be announced officially by the Bangladesh and Afghanistan cricket boards.

The ODI leg could, however, take a different shape. Organisers are exploring the possibility of adding Zimbabwe to the programme, potentially turning the bilateral series into a three-nation ODI tournament involving Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe's participation is still awaiting confirmation. If the African side agrees to the proposal, the tri-series could begin in the UAE in early October, with all three teams facing each other.

A decision from Zimbabwe is now expected before the full schedule is finalised. If the plan goes ahead, Bangladesh could face a packed start to October, featuring both Test and ODI cricket in the UAE shortly after the Asia Cup.
