Bangladesh to take on New Zealand in T20 series opener today
Bangladesh return to T20 international cricket after a five-month break, taking on New Zealand in the first match of a three-game series on Monday (April 27) at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram.
The match will start at 2:00pm and will be broadcast live on T Sports and Nagorik TV.
Bangladesh last played T20 internationals in May and June last year, featuring an intensive build-up phase ahead of the T20 World Cup, during which they played 30 matches and secured series wins against Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
However, their preparation cycle was disrupted as they did not participate in the World Cup.
The series marks a fresh start for Bangladesh in the format, with a renewed focus on rebuilding ahead of the next World Cup cycle.
The squad features a revamped pace attack led by Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, along with newcomers Abdul Gaffar Saklain and Ripon Mondol. The spin department will be supported by Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain.
