Bangladesh trash Sri Lanka in warm-up match

Bangladesh on Friday won the first warm-up match for the upcoming ODI World Cup. The Tigers beat former world champion Sri Lanka by seven wickets in India's Guwahati. Bangladesh reached the target of 264 runs, set by the Lankans', keeping 42 balls in hand.

Chasing 264 runs, Litton Kumar Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 131 runs in 20.4 overs in the opening pair. Litton returned to the pavilion after playing a brilliant innings of 61 runs off just 56 balls. Tanzid Tamim was dismissed for 84 runs from 88 balls. The left-handed opener hit 2 sixes and 10 fours in his innings. Tawhid Hridoy was out for a 'golden duck'. However, in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, the stand-in captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored unbeaten 67 off 64 balls and left the field with the victory. Mushfiqur Rahim also played an unbeaten innings of 35 runs.

Earlier, battibg first, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 263 runs. Opener Pathum Nissanka played the ininngs of 68 runs. Dhananjaya de Silva also scored a half-century, he made 55 runs. Moreover, 34 runs came from the bat of Kusal Perera. For Bangladesh, Mahedi Hasan took 3 wickets. Besides, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shariful Islam, Nasum Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one wicket each.

Bangladesh will play their next warm-up match against defending champion England on October 2.
