Bangladesh and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral partnership in various areas of mutual interest. According to a message issued on Tuesday, the discussion took place during a meeting between Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs S. Paul Kapur on Monday. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral cooperation and various issues of common interest. They also emphasized on further enhancing Bangladesh-US engagement in several areas. They also reiterated their commitment to advance the long-standing partnership between the two countries through strengthening cooperation and constructive engagement.

পারস্পরিক স্বার্থসংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে দ্বিপক্ষীয় অংশীদারিত্ব আরও সুদৃঢ় করার প্রতিশ্রুতি পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেছে বাংলাদেশ ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্র। বাংলাদেশের পররাষ্ট্রবিষয়ক প্রতিমন্ত্রী শামা ওবায়েদ ইসলাম এবং দক্ষিণ ও মধ্য এশিয়াবিষয়ক মার্কিন সহকারী পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী এস. পল কাপুরের বৈঠকে এ আলোচনা হয়। গতকাল (সোমবার) এ আলোচনা হয়েছে বলে আজ ঢাকায় প্রাপ্ত এক বার্তায় জানানো হয়েছে। এ সময় উভয়পক্ষ দ্বিপাক্ষিক সহযোগিতা ও অভিন্ন স্বার্থসংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন। পাশাপাশি একাধিক ক্ষেত্রে বাংলাদেশ-যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সম্পৃক্ততা আরও বাড়ানোর ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। সহযোগিতা জোরদার ও গঠনমূলক সম্পৃক্ততার মধ্য দিয়ে দু’দেশের দীর্ঘস্থায়ী অংশীদারিত্বকে এগিয়ে নেওয়ার অঙ্গীকারও পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেন তারা।
