Bangladesh win against India after 22 years
Bangladesh won against India in football after 22 years and Bangladesh won in international football after five matches.
Bangladesh first saw this victory in the fifth match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Bangladesh last defeated India 2-1 in the semi-finals of the SAFF Championship at this ground in 2003.
Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead in the first half of the match against India through a goal by Sheikh Morasalin. Morasalin scored a goal in the 11th minute of the match from a pass by Rakib to give the hosts the lead.
Singapore and Hong Kong have already confirmed the main stage as the top two teams from Group C in the Asian Cup qualifiers held at the Dhaka National Stadium. Although this match is a match of rules, a question of dignity always remains in the match between Bangladesh and India.
Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan had announced in the pre-match press conference that they would end the last match of the year at home with a win. Bangladesh fulfilled that expectation.
Earlier, Bangladesh drew the match goalless in the first leg match in India in March.
Shamit Som and Sheikh Morsalin returned to the starting eleven for today's match. However, captain Jamal Bhuiyan was left out of coach Javier Cabrera's main team.
There was increased excitement in the entire stadium surrounding the match, which started at 8 pm today at the Dhaka National Stadium.
Shamit, a Canadian expatriate, was not in the eleven in the last friendly match against Nepal on November 13. And Morsalin was not in the match due to injury.
Bangladesh XI: Mitul Marma (goalkeeper), Topu Barman, Sheikh Morsalin, Hamza Chowdhury, Rakib Hossain, Md. Faisal Ahmed Fahim, Tariq Kazi, Sohel Rana (captain), Zayan Ahmed, Md. Saad Uddin, Shamit Som.
