Bangladesh Women’s U-20 suffer heavy defeat to South Korea

Bangladesh’s hopes of qualifying for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup suffered a major blow after a heavy 6-1 defeat to South Korea in their final Group H match of the second-round qualifiers on Sunday.

At the National Stadium in Laos, Bangladesh took an early lead in the 15th minute. However, South Korea equalised just two minutes later. The first half ended 1-1, but the second half was one-sided, with the Korean side scoring five unanswered goals.

Peter Butler’s team conceded in the 48th and 60th minutes, before letting in three more goals in the 87th, 90th, and injury time.

With the loss, Bangladesh finished as runners-up in Group H. Their qualification for the final tournament now depends on results from other groups. Only the three best runners-up—based on points and goal difference—will advance to the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian C
