A Bangladeshi expatriate has won Dh100,000 in the consolation prize draw of the 289th series of the UAE’s Big Ticket lottery.

The winner, 32-year-old Sabuj Md Delwar Munsi, secured the prize with a regular ticket, taking home an amount equivalent to around Tk3.34 million.

Sabuj has been living in the United Arab Emirates for about seven and a half years. He said he learned about Big Ticket through social media and had been participating in the lottery for the past four years. This was his first win.

Speaking after learning of the prize, Sabuj said he plans to use the money to cover his living expenses in the UAE and improve his standard of living.

He described the win as an example of how even an ordinary participation can unexpectedly change a person’s life.

Four other expatriates also won Dh100,000 each in the same consolation draw. They included another Bangladeshi, Arifuzzaman Shuvo, while the remaining winners were Indian nationals Akhil Chandran R P, Said Alavi Kariyodan Varichalil and Sharath Shashidharan, all from Kerala.

The draw awarded a total of Dh500,000 in consolation prizes to five winners.

Big Ticket’s next major live draw is scheduled for Sept 3, when one winner will receive the top prize of Dh15 million, while five others will win Dh100,000 each.

The promotion also features weekly e-draws, the Big Spin and Dream Car promotions throughout August, with cash prizes and luxury vehicles including the Land Rover Defender and Nissan Patrol up for grabs.
