Bangladeshi film to screen at Red Sea film fest in Jeddah
For several years, various film-related events have been taking place in Saudi Arabia. The largest film event in Saudi Arabia is the Red Sea International Film Festival.
This year, a film from Bangladesh will be featured at the Red Sea International Film Festival. Saba, directed by Maksud Hossain, is part of the competition section. The film, starring Rokeya Prachi and Mehazabine Chowdhury, tells the story of a paralyzed mother and her daughter. Three screenings of Saba will be held at the festival. The first screening will be on December 8 at Culture Square-Cinema 1, followed by two more screenings on December 9 and 14 at the same location.
The fourth edition of the festival is starting in Jeddah on Thursday (December 5). Films from various countries, including Saudi Arabia, will be showcased during this 10-day event.
The festival will open with the Egyptian filmmaker Karim Senabir's The Tale of Days Family. The closing film of the festival will be the biopic of British pop singer Robbie Williams, Better Man, directed by Michael Gracey. This year's Red Sea Festival will conclude on December 14 with the screening of this film.
Every year, several Bollywood stars attend this festival, and this year is no exception. There will also be a number of Hollywood actors and directors present. On the opening day, awards will be given to Aamir Khan and Emily Blunt. They will participate in separate discussion sessions in addition to the opening ceremony.
On the second day, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be present for a special event titled In Conversation with Kareena Kapoor. Hollywood actress Eva Longoria will also take part in a similar event.
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor will attend on the fourth day of the festival. Additionally, on various days, the festival will feature Egyptian actress Mona Zaki, Hollywood actress Viola Davis, director Spike Lee, Hollywood actor Andrew Garfield, and many others.
In addition to film screenings and celebrity discussions, another highlight of the Red Sea Festival is the Red Sea Souk. Filmmakers present their projects at this film market, and selected projects receive funding. Around 150 directors and producers from 32 countries are expected to participate this year.
