Bangladeshi short film ‘Nuri’ in Cannes Film Festival
Bangladeshi short film ‘Nuri’ has been selected in the ‘Cinema de Doman’ section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival’s Short Film Corner. The film was recently officially included in the festival’s market catalogue.
The film’s writer and director Mithun Zaman and producer Hasib Zuberi Shihan are currently in Cannes to participate in the festival.
Producer Hasib Zuberi Shihan said that the Short Film Corner Rendezvous-Industry is a professional platform where short film makers connect with international distributors, festival representatives and sales representatives.
Producer Mithun Zaman said that the film is based on the inner world of a teenage girl. It highlights how global reality affects people’s personal lives and emotions. He said that ‘Nuri’ will remind us of the power of human relationships and hope in these times of instability and isolation.
The 16-minute Bengali film is set on the seashore of Cox's Bazar. The story follows an 11-year-old girl who finds new courage and hope for survival through an unexpected bond with a newborn foal. A local girl from Cox's Bazar plays the role of 'Nuri'.
The film is produced by Hasib Zuberi Shihan and Bashar Georgis. Co-producer is Himesh Kar. Cinematography is by Mohammad Arifuzzaman. Sound design is by Shaib Talukder and Jawad Parvez. Music is by Amjad Hossain. Editing is by Sameer Ahmed and Shihan Zuberi. Color grading is by Moonshine Post Production.
