Bangladeshi youth killed in motorcycle accident in Maldives
A young Bangladeshi man named Rashedul Hasan, 20, has been killed in a motorcycle accident in the Guraidhoo island of Thaa Atoll in the Maldives. The incident occurred on Monday, April 27, local time.
Rashedul was the son of Enamul Haque of Rangmahal village in Dulahazara union, Chakaria upazila, Cox's Bazar. The Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives confirmed his death.
According to the high commission and local sources, Rashedul was working at a coffee shop on Guraidhoo island. While performing his duties, he met with a motorcycle accident and fell into the water. The local police rescued him and rushed him to the Guraidhoo Health Centre, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The Maldives police have filed a case in connection with the incident and are investigating the actual cause of the accident.
The High Commission has coordinated with the victim's family and completed all necessary preparations to send the body back home. The body will be sent to Bangladesh on Tuesday, April 28, after completing the necessary formalities.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives, Dr Md Nazmul Islam, expressed deep shock over the untimely death of the young expatriate and extended his sincere condolences to the bereaved family.
