A major announcement has been made for Bangladesh women's football. The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) is set to host the first-ever Women's Club Championship later this year. Nasrin Sports Academy, the current champions of the Bangladesh Women's Football League, have secured a spot in this tournament.

On Friday, SAFF, the regional football body, announced the tournament on its verified social media page on Facebook. The Women's Club Championship will take place in Nepal from December 5 to 20.

In its Facebook post, SAFF stated, 'History is about to be made. For the first time ever, SAFF is organising the Women's Club Championship, where five strong teams will compete for glory.'

Five clubs from five different countries will participate. Bangladesh's 2023-24 league champions, Nasrin Sports Academy, will compete against India's East Bengal, Bhutan's Transport United, Nepal's APF Football Club, and Pakistan's Karachi City Football Club.

In the first phase, the clubs will play against each other in a round-robin format to earn points. The top two teams in the points table will then face off in the final to fight for the championship title.
