Bangladesh's female cricketer Shohaly Akhter has been banned for five years by the ICC due to her involvement in fixing. The ICC announced that starting from February 10, Shohaly is prohibited from participating in all forms of cricket. The ban was imposed for breaching the ICC's anti-corruption code, and Shohaly has accepted the penalty.

During the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa, Shohaly Akhter was involved in match-fixing. She made an agreement with a party to influence the outcome of a match and deliberately underperformed in an international game.

The ICC's statement outlined that Shohaly violated several clauses, including 2.1.1, 2.1.3, 2.1.4, 2.4.4, and 2.4.7, which involve accepting, requesting, or offering anything related to fixing, attempting to influence match results, or making inducements for such actions. Furthermore, she failed to report the approach to the BCB Anti-Corruption Unit, which delayed the investigation process.
