Bangladesh's Sobhana Mostary named ICC Player of the Month

Bangladesh's Sobhana Mostary has been named the ICC Women's Player of the Month for January 2026 following her outstanding performance in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier.

Sobhana beat Ireland captain Gaby Lewis and American left-arm pacer Tara Norris to claim the honour.

In the first six matches of the Global Qualifier in January, Sobhana scored 229 runs at an average of 45.80 and a strike rate of 145.84, playing a crucial role in Bangladesh's unbeaten run.

Nahida Akter became the first Bangladeshi women's cricketer to win this award in November 2023. Sobhana is now the second. She scored a match-winning 59 against Scotland, including a 47-run innings, and was named Player of the Match.

In the men's category, New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell was named Player of the Month for January after scoring back-to-back centuries in the ODI series against India.
