Banned Chhatra League flash protest in Jhenaidah, 3 arrested
Police have filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act over a flash protest march by the banned Chhatra League at the Payra Chattar area in Jhenaidah town. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to police sources, a protest march was held at Payra Chattar early on Monday morning, June 8. A video of the march was later shared on social media, bringing the matter to the attention of law enforcement. In the video, district Chhatra League general secretary Al Imran was seen at the front of the procession.
The nearly 1.5-minute video showed the march starting from Payra Chattar with a banner and ending at government KC College, with around fifty activists participating. Various political slogans were chanted during the march.
Sub-Inspector Rajib Ali of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act following the incident, naming 24 leaders and activists of Chhatra League and Jubo League as accused, along with 10-15 unidentified individuals.
Police conducted operations and arrested district Jubo League member Mehedi Hasan Sohel, and Chhatra League activists Niloy Farhan and Ashik.
Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station OC Md Asaduzzaman said a case has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act over the march. The arrestees have been sent to court, and operations are ongoing to arrest the other accused.
