BCB bans two more BPL officials for fixing

Two more individuals have been banned over corruption allegations in the latest edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Earlier, at the beginning of this month, three people, including former director of Aminul Islam's board Mokhlesur Rahman, were punished. This time, Chattogram Royals owner Abdul Qaiyum and Durbar Rajshahi manager Amin Khan have been temporarily banned from all cricket-related activities.

In a press release, the BCB said the two accused officials have been temporarily suspended. Abdul Qaiyum Rashed was the owner of Chattogram Royals in the 12th edition, while Amin Khan was the team official (operations manager) of Durbar Rajshahi in the 11th edition and Chattogram Royals in the 12th edition.

The board said, "The allegations against them have been brought based on an investigation conducted by the Bangladesh Cricket Board Integrity Unit. There are allegations of corrupt activities centering on the 11th and 12th editions of the BPL, failure to disclose information related to corruption, failure to cooperate with anti-corruption investigations, and obstructing or delaying investigations."

Abdul Qaiyum Rashed violated ICC Anti-Corruption Code Articles 2.1.1, 2.4.4, 2.4.6 and 2.4.7, which pertain to improperly influencing match results, failing to inform the anti-corruption officer about corrupt approaches, and failing to cooperate with investigations.

Additionally, Amin Khan, who served as manager and team official of Durbar Rajshahi in the 11th edition and Chattogram Royals in the 12th edition of the BPL, has been accused of violating four anti-corruption articles.

These include illegally influencing match results or any part of a match, involvement in fixing or any plan or agreement related to fixing, directly or indirectly inducing, encouraging or assisting any other player or official to commit corruption, and failing to assist or cooperate with an investigation as directed or requested by the anti-corruption officer without proper cause. Amin Khan is also accused of concealing or destroying information or messages necessary for the investigation, thereby obstructing or delaying the investigation.

The two accused officials will, however, be given 14 days to respond as per the rules. Earlier, the BCB's Anti-Corruption Division had disclosed the names of more officials.
