BCB Director resigns just a day after polls
The day after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Board of Directors election, newly elected Director Mir Shakrul Alam Simanto has resigned. He is the son of State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam MP.
He submitted his resignation to BCB President Tamim Iqbal on Monday (June 8). Several directors of the board confirmed Simanto's resignation to the media.
Earlier, the BCB Board of Directors election was held on Sunday (June 7). However, before the election, he had expressed his intention not to serve as BCB Director.
In his resignation letter, Simanto mentioned that he was elected as a director from Rajshahi region unopposed in the BCB election. However, since his father is a State Minister in the government, all the important responsibilities of the family business and commerce are currently entrusted to him. Due to this busy schedule, it will not be possible for him to properly fulfill the duties of a director in an important national institution like BCB.
He further said that he has decided to step down from this position out of a sense of responsibility and considering the interests of the cricket board. At the same time, he requested the BCB president to accept his resignation letter immediately.
