BCB election inquiry report submitted to NSC
The investigation committee probing alleged irregularities in the last Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election has formally submitted its report to the National Sports Council (NSC) ahead of the scheduled 15-day deadline.
The report was handed over to NSC Director (Sports) Mohammad Aminul Ehsan on Sunday (April 5).
Committee head A K M Asaduzzaman clarified that no individual was directly accused in the report. “Those involved were questioned, and the report was prepared impartially. It also includes guidelines for conducting future elections more transparently,” he said.
The five-member committee, chaired by a former judge, was formed by the NSC on 11 March following allegations of misconduct in the controversial BCB board elections held last October.
Top BCB officials, including President Aminul Islam Bulbul, Vice President Faruque Ahmed, and the CEO, appeared before the committee.
Former sports adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan was summoned but did not attend, citing ongoing court cases and concerns over the board’s autonomy.
Since the disputed elections, the BCB has seen continued instability, with seven directors resigning amid growing unrest.
