BCB election likely in first or second week of June: Tamim
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently being run by an 11-member ad-hoc committee led by Tamim Iqbal. The National Sports Council (NSC) dissolved the BCB governing body led by Aminul Islam on April 7 and tasked the ad-hoc committee with organising elections within 90 days.
Speaking to journalists in the press box during the second ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand on Monday, April 20, BCB President Tamim Iqbal said the election for the BCB governing body will be held in the first week of June, or at the latest the second week.
The ad-hoc committee's three-month term will be completed on July 7. Tamim wants to hold the election before that deadline.
In October last year, a BCB governing body election was held. A faction led by Tamim had submitted nominations but later withdrew from the race. A 25-member board led by Aminul Islam was elected.
Tamim also informed journalists that the ball boy culture will return to international matches starting from the T20 series against New Zealand. "I don't know when it stopped. Ball boys will be there from the New Zealand T20 series," he said.
He recalled his own time as a ball boy: "I remember when MCC and India toured Bangladesh in 2004, I was a ball boy. This is a very good thing."
