BCB extends captaincy tenure of Miraz, Litton
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended the captaincy tenures of Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Litton Kumar Das, keeping them in charge of the ODI and T20 sides respectively as part of a long-term planning strategy.
The decision was taken at a board meeting held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday (April 4).
Miraz, who was appointed ODI captain on a one-year contract in June last year, will now lead the side until 2027 after impressing with consecutive home series victories against the West Indies and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Litton will continue as T20 captain through to the 2028 ICC T20 World Cup, with the board opting for continuity in leadership.
BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedin Fahim said the move reflects the board’s focus on stability, allowing captains to implement long-term plans without disruption.
In addition to leadership decisions, the board also discussed plans to revive player award ceremonies, introduce overseas scholarship opportunities for sports journalists, and launch a quarterly sports journal.
