BCB plans special tournament in place of T20 World Cup

After Bangladesh pulled out of the T20 World Cup in India over security concerns, the BCB is set to give its national stars a chance to hit back—on home turf.

A new domestic tournament will bring together the World Cup squad and top local talent, letting players shake off the disappointment and stay in top form.

Youth and Sports Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam said the initiative, planned in consultation with Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul, will get full government support, even if the BCB runs the show.

The tournament schedule and format will be announced soon.

Officials said the main goal is to keep players match-ready, maintain fitness and performance levels, and help alleviate the disappointment of missing a major tournament.
