BCB plans to increase salaries of domestic cricket coaches

After raising cricketers’ salaries twice this year, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is now planning to increase the salaries of coaches working in domestic cricket. The board said it is working on a review of the existing salary structure for coaches under its jurisdiction.

Since the new BCB committee led by Tamim Iqbal took charge in June this year, several decisions have been taken in the interests of cricketers, including initiatives to improve the standard of domestic cricket and increase players’ salaries. However, the salary structure for domestic coaches has remained unchanged so far.

The BCB is now looking to address the issue of coaches’ salaries as well. A board director told the media that there is a plan to increase their salaries, although no final decision has yet been made on when the revised structure will take effect.

Domestic cricket coaches have been demanding higher salaries for a long time. Mizanur Rahman Babul, head coach of the Bangladesh A team, said he had also heard about the proposed increase.

“I’ve heard that the BCB is going to increase coaches’ salaries. But it remains to be seen when and how it will be implemented,” he said.

Babul also highlighted the need for a respectable and adequate salary structure for coaches. According to him, a better salary would provide greater financial security for coaches, as opportunities to build savings can be limited even after working in the profession for many years, while coaching cannot necessarily be continued throughout one’s entire career.

He expressed hope that the BCB would give the matter due importance.
