The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to launch a new 50-over tournament featuring the country’s U-17, U-19 and U-23 teams, aiming to give emerging cricketers more opportunities to play competitive matches and strengthen the national team pipeline.

The tournament will begin on August 28 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, with all matches scheduled to be played at the venue.

The opening match will see Bangladesh U-17 take on Bangladesh U-19. The U-19 and U-23 sides will then face each other after a one-day break.

The tournament will begin with a double round-robin league, meaning each team will face the other two sides twice. Each team will therefore play at least four matches during the league stage, providing young players with regular competitive exposure and opportunities to demonstrate their skills.

The top two teams in the points table will advance to the final, scheduled for September 9 in Mirpur. All matches will begin at 9:30am.

The BCB’s initiative is aimed at keeping promising players in the national development pipeline engaged in regular competitive cricket. It will also provide a structured platform to assess players as they progress from U-17 to U-19 and eventually U-23 level.

With all matches being played at the same venue, national selectors will have a closer opportunity to monitor performances and assess the readiness of emerging players.

The tournament is part of the BCB’s broader effort to strengthen age-group cricket and create a more consistent pathway for developing the next generation of national players.
