The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made a diplomatic move to repair the broken cricketing relationship with India, sending an official letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressing interest in restoring bilateral ties, according to a report by Indian media outlet The Financial Express.

Cricketing relations between the two neighbouring countries collapsed earlier this year after Kolkata Knight Riders dropped pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL citing security concerns. Bangladesh subsequently withdrew from the T20 World Cup hosted by India, and Scotland replaced them in the tournament after the ICC rejected BCB's demand to shift Bangladesh's matches to Sri Lanka.

India was scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a limited-overs series this September featuring three ODIs and three T20Is. However, the BCCI indefinitely postponed the series amid the strained relations, despite significant financial stakes for both boards.

With the 2027 season in view, the BCB is now seeking to normalise the situation. A thaw in relations could reopen discussions on the postponed series, though a dispute remains over the venue. Bangladesh also holds hosting rights for next year's Asia Cup.

The BCCI has yet to respond to the BCB's outreach. Indian media reports indicate that any resumption of bilateral cricketing ties depends entirely on approval from the Indian central government.
