BFF member Shahin calls for coach Cabrera's resignation
After Bangladesh’s loss to Singapore, head coach Javier Cabrera has come under intense criticism. Analysts have highlighted multiple errors in his team selection, starting XI choices, substitutions, and overall match tactics. In response, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Executive Committee member Sakhawat Hossain Bhuiyan Shahin has publicly demanded Cabrera’s resignation.
During a press conference held at the RAOWA Convention Hall in capital's Mohakhali, Executive Committee member Shahin called for the resignation of Bangladesh’s head coach. The event, organized by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Saturday (June 14), was originally intended to present the federation’s recent activities and future plans.
However, when Shahin took the stage, he addressed only one issue—demanding the coach’s resignation. His remarks drew a wave of questions from journalists, placing BFF President Tabith Awal under considerable scrutiny.
BFF is not taking any immediate action regarding Coach Cabrera. Addressing the issue, BFF President Tabith Awal said, “We follow a standard process. We will hold discussions with everyone involved with the national team, including the coaching staff. A decision will be made after a thorough evaluation. It wouldn’t be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
When asked about a BFF member publicly demanding the coach’s resignation, Tabith responded, “This is an internal matter of the executive committee. We will discuss it among ourselves. Any decision regarding the coach will be officially announced.”
Notably, following the match against Singapore, Coach Cabrera returned to his home country, Spain. His current contract with BFF remains valid until April 2026.
