BFSA orders market withdrawal of food products from 3 firms

Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) on Thursday directed three food manufacturing companies to withdraw their products from the market after finding excessive use of preservatives harmful to human health.

In a press release, the BFSA identified the products as "Yeast Cake Pur Pitha Jam Filled (Intact)" manufactured by Yeast Cake International Food Ltd; "Yeast Baker Slice Bread Milk Jam Filled (Intact)" manufactured by Yeast Zibai International Ltd; and "Arboting Food Slice Bread Mix Jam Filled (Intact)" manufactured by Arboting Food Co Ltd.

The authority instructed all three companies to immediately withdraw the respective products from the market and halt their marketing.

The BFSA also advised the general public to refrain from purchasing or consuming the mentioned food items.
