BGB seizes smuggled goods worth Tk 168 crore in Nov
Border Guard Bangladesh seized a large quantity of smuggled goods, drugs, arms and explosives from different border regions throughout November 2025. A press release issued on Tuesday said that the estimated market value of the seized items stands at Tk 168 crore 38 lakh 57 thousand.
According to BGB, gold, silver, clothing items, cosmetics, readymade garments, imitation jewellery, fireworks, tea, betel nut, coal, stones, plastics, electronic items, mobile phones, and motorbikes were seized, amounting to more than Tk 168 crore in value.
The agency seized 2kg 266g of gold, 121g of silver, more than 17,000 sarees, 21,000 three-piece sets and other clothing, over 10 lakh pieces of fireworks, 1 lakh 68 thousand pieces of chocolate, 819 cows and buffaloes, and 318 vehicles of different types.
Large quantities of narcotics were also confiscated during the drives. These include 20 lakh 58 thousand 789 yaba tablets, 193 grams of heroin, 3,714 bottles of Phensedyl, 7,176 bottles of foreign liquor, 203 litres of local alcohol, 608 cans of beer, 1,526kg of marijuana and various tablets, injections and drugs.
The BGB further recovered four local pistols, one hand grenade, 19 rounds of bullets, three mines, six crude bombs and other explosives. A total of 159 individuals were arrested over smuggling and trafficking offences. Another 137 Bangladeshis and two Indians were detained for illegal border-crossing.
In addition, 403 Myanmar citizens attempting to enter Bangladesh were detained and repatriated to their country.
