Bijoy, Mosaddek among 9 players excluded from BPL auction
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has excluded several players accused of involvement in past fixing scandals from this year’s BPL auction.
While the board has not officially named the individuals, seven local players from the preliminary list—Ariful Haque, Nihaduzzaman, Thisara Perera, Shafiul Islam, Al Amin Hossain (Senior), Alauddin Babu, and Shubham Ranjane (USA)—along with Bijoy and Soikat are missing from the final auction list.
The BCB has not commented on whether these players are formally found guilty of fixing.
Franchisees were instructed not to include any players suspected of involvement in fixing, as such individuals will not receive BPL accreditation cards.
Following last year’s BPL, a three-member independent committee investigated fixing allegations and submitted a 900-page report recommending certain players and officials be barred from this season.
Further investigations are being overseen by BCB’s Anti-Corruption Advisory, Alex Marshall.
The BPL auction will be held tomorrow at a Dhaka hotel. The tournament will open on December 24 at Mirpur, with the first match scheduled on December 26 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
