After a 30-hour delay, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying 275 passengers finally departed from Dubai International Airport for Bangladesh on Friday morning (July 18).

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner took off at 7:30am local time (9:30am Bangladesh time) after remaining grounded due to a mechanical issue.

The flight, originally scheduled to leave Dubai at 12:05am on Thursday for Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, was halted after a fault was detected in the aircraft. Of the 275 passengers, 55 were bound for Dhaka while the rest were headed to Chattogram. Among the stranded are children and elderly passengers.

Biman's Station Manager in Dubai, PM Dastagir, confirmed that replacement parts for the aircraft were flown in on another Biman flight from Dhaka on Thursday night. Maintenance teams worked overnight to fix the issue and prepare the aircraft for departure.

Most stranded passengers were provided hotel accommodation, although some—including a 12-member family—chose to remain in the airport lounge. Passengers reported that boarding passes were reissued early Friday morning, and they were brought back to the airport from their hotels starting at 2:00am local time.

The aircraft had landed in Dubai at 10:50pm on Wednesday and was originally expected to land in Chittagong at 7:00am Thursday.
