Judge’s Residence Attacked in Rajshahi
BJSA issued 48 hours ultimatum on two points demand
Following the attack on Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman’s residence, the Bangladesh Judicial Service Association (BJSA) has issued urgent demands to the government.
The BJSA called for immediate deployment of adequate security forces at all courts, judges’ residences, and during judges’ transit.
It also demanded strict action against police personnel involved in the public display of the arrested suspect linked to the incident.
The association warned that if these demands are not met within 48 hours, judges nationwide will implement strict work restrictions in protest.
BJSA leaders said the attack highlights the government’s failure to ensure judges’ safety despite repeated appeals.
Earlier, on November 13, a violent attack on the residence of Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman in Rajshahi on Thursday left his son, Tawsif Rahman Sumon, dead and his wife, Tasmin Nahar, seriously injured.
The assailant was also injured and taken into custody.
Police Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian stated that the assailant entered the judge’s residence targeting the family, and a driving license found on his pocket indicates he may work as a driver.
"The motive is believed to be a personal conflict, he added.
