The Alfadanga Upazila administration in Faridpur has imposed 'Section 144' to maintain public order ahead of rallies by two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Alfadanga Upazila Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Rasel Iqbal issued the order on Friday night (November 28).

Under the order, from 10:00am to 6:00pm on Saturday (November 29, 2025), all meetings, protests, public gatherings, assemblies of five or more people, and carrying of firearms or homemade weapons are prohibited in the upazila headquarters, schools, fields, and markets.

Authorities have said all measures will be taken to protect life, property, and maintain law and order.

Local BNP sources said one rally was scheduled at Asaduzzaman Girls’ High School to discuss the party’s 31-point programme and support the nominated parliamentary candidate, while another protest was planned at Arifuzzaman High School field demanding the annulment of local BNP committees and protesting November violence.

Shahjalal Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Alfadanga police Station, confirmed that law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the area and warned that legal action will be taken in case of any untoward incidents.
