BNP has made 127 allegations against Jamaat-e-Islami in a press conference held several hours before the 13th National Parliament elections.

Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the party's standing committee and head of the central election management committee, made these allegations at a press conference held on Wednesday night.

Nazrul Islam Khan said that the national parliament elections are going to be held in the country after many years. Referring to their long movement and struggle to hold this elections, he said that many leaders and activists have given their lives, and there have been incidents of loss of life in July-August 2024. In such a context, they hoped that all the parties concerned would participate in the election peacefully and democratically.

He said that everyone may have the desire to win, but it is not advisable to take immoral or illegal ways to achieve it. He claimed that after reviewing the information and data received throughout the day, about 127 allegations have come to light. He also said that there are some more allegations, which have not yet been verified.

At the press conference, he said that Tk74 lakh was recovered from a Jamaat leader at Syedpur Airport. Although the party concerned said that it was business money, the person is not a businessman and according to his income tax return, his annual income is a little more than Tk4 lakh, claimed Nazrul Islam Khan. He also commented that such behavior of a leader of a party that talks about morality is regrettable.

In addition, regarding the statement of the Election Commission Secretary, he said that the news that was published saying that carrying Tk5 lakh or Tk5 crore is not an issue has been 'misquoted'.

He also claimed that the EC Secretary had made a statement on this issue in a meeting with the BNP delegation and in the media.
