BNP protest in Gazipur blocks Dhaka-Mymensingh highway
BNP activists set tires on fire and blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur on Wednesday morning (November 12), demanding the restoration of Gazipur-6 seat.
The protest caused traffic to halt, creating a jam nearly 12 kilometers long.
The demonstration began around 10am at Tongi College Gate following a High Court ruling that canceled six parliamentary seats.
BNP leaders immediately appealed to retain the seat and stage the protest.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan confirmed that law enforcement is deployed at the site to control the situation.
