BNP shot dead killed, 2 injured in Kushtia

Miscreants have shot a BNP member to death in Kushtia's Daulatpur.

The incident took place at 7:45 pm on Thursday (December 4) in Pachavita village of Piarpur union of the upazila. The deceased Md Rafiq,55, was an active worker of the local BNP.

According to police and local sources, while Rafiq was sitting at a shop in the local market, some miscreants on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds at him. He died on the spot. Two more people, Robzel Farazi and Yusuf, were injured in the shooting and were given first aid.

Police said the exact reason for the murder is not yet clear. However, it is initially believed that the attack could have been carried out due to past enmity. Panic spread in the area after the incident and the police arrived to bring the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.

Daulatpur Police Station OC Md. Solaiman Sheikh said that an autopsy report has been prepared after recovering the body. Efforts are underway to identify those involved and bring them to justice.
