Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has said that if his party comes to power, it will allocate the highest share of the national budget to the education sector. He also noted that primary schools play the most vital role in establishing social values.

Speaking virtually at a merit scholarship event in Pakundia, Kishoreganj, Tarique made the remarks while congratulating the winners of a talent evaluation competition and answering their questions.

He said, “BNP aims to help students excel in their respective fields — to nurture those who are good in Hadith, Quran recitation, sports, or mathematics. The goal is to identify and develop each student’s particular talent.”

Tarique added that the BNP is working to gradually bring out such talents while also focusing on unlocking the potential of latent abilities.

He emphasised that a proper education system is essential for the nation’s development and security. With that objective in mind, the BNP has already announced a 31-point plan to ensure a safe nation and safe campuses.

As part of that initiative, a team of education experts has been formed to modernise the existing national curriculum in line with contemporary needs, and Tarique Rahman mentioned that the team has already made significant progress in this regard.
