Ravi Dey, a familiar face in the Indian music scene, is no more. Police recovered the body of the 70-year-old musician from a room in his rented house in Govindpuri Extension, southeast Delhi. The Delhi Police said the body was discovered nearly three days after his death .

According to police sources, neighbours became suspicious when a foul smell began emanating from Ravi Dey's house around the night of August 14. They subsequently informed the police control room. Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and found the main iron gate of the house locked from the inside. There was no other way to enter the premises.

Fire service personnel were called in to assist. They broke open the door and entered the house, recovering Ravi Dey's body from a room. Police said he had been living alone in the house for about three years. Preliminary investigations have found no evidence of any criminal activity in connection with his death.

After the body was recovered, forensic experts visited the scene and collected various evidence. The body was then sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) mortuary to determine the cause of death. Following the completion of the autopsy on August 16, the body was handed over to family members .

As part of the investigation, police have also recorded statements from Ravi Dey's two sons, Tarj Dey and Rangan Dey. Both are musicians and live in the Lajpat Nagar-2 area of Delhi. They told police that their parents had separated many years ago. Due to their professional commitments, they had not been in contact with their father for several days before his death .

Police have said that no evidence of conspiracy or foul play has been found behind Ravi Dey's death so far. However, the autopsy report and other investigation details are being reviewed to confirm the exact cause of death. Necessary investigation proceedings have been initiated in the case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
