Bogura BNP candidate served show-cause notice

The Election Inquiry and Judicial Committee in Bogra has issued a show-cause notice to the BNP candidate for Bogura-1, Kazi Rafiqul Islam, over allegations of violating the electoral code of conduct.

The notice states that, based on received complaints, an inquiry found that food was distributed to voters at an election rally in Sonatola upazila on January 22, and that campaigning in favour of the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol was conducted at a mosque in Sariakandi upazila on January 23.

The notice was sent via post on January 24 by the committee's chairperson. It requires Kazi Rafiqul Islam or his representative to appear in person before the committee's office at the Bogrua District and Sessions Judge Court building by 12:00 pm on February 2. They must provide a written statement or explanation as to why legal action should not be taken against them for breaching the code of conduct.
