Bogura Jamaat candidate used 'Bir Muktijoddha' title falsely, show-cause notice issued

The Election Commission's inquiry and judicial committee has issued a show-cause notice to Bogura-1 (Sariakandi-Sonatola) constituency Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Principal Shahabuddin for allegedly using the title 'Bir Muktijoddha' before his name during campaigning despite not being a freedom fighter.

The notice was issued on February 2 following a complaint by the Awami League's chief agent in the constituency, Kazi Erfanur Rahman. An investigation found the allegation to be true.

The notice, sent by committee chairperson and Joint District and Sessions Judge Shamima Khatun, states that candidate Shahabuddin or his representative must appear in person at the committee's office in the Bogura District and Sessions Judge Court building by 12 pm on February 5 to submit a written statement or explanation. Failure to do so will lead to legal action.
