Bomb blast near women's madrasa in Madaripur, 5 students injured

Five students were injured in a bomb explosion near a women's madrasa in Gopalpur, Kalkini municipality area of Madaripur. The incident occurred on Saturday morning near the Darussunnah Women's Madrasa.

Local sources said an explosion with a loud sound occurred in the morning in front of Eman Sardar's house adjacent to the madrasa. Several students of the madrasa who were nearby sustained injuries. The injured were rescued and admitted to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex and Madaripur District Sadar Hospital.

The injured students include Abida (8), Jannat (9), Minha (10) and Maimuna (9). Panic spread in the area following the explosion. Police from Kalkini Police Station visited the scene after receiving the news.

Local resident Eman Sardar said he does not know how the explosion occurred in front of his house, only learning of it after hearing the sound.

Darussunnah Women's Madrasa Muhtamim Hafizur Rahman said the explosion occurred in an area adjacent to the madrasa, injuring approximately five students.

Kalkini Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Zahirul Alam said police visited the scene after receiving news of the bomb blast. An investigation is underway to determine how and why the explosion occurred.
