Boy writes letter to Messi, gets invitation to watch World Cup
An eight-year-old footballer, Manu Litvi, wrote a heartwarming letter on the Argentine superstar's birthday (June 24) and created a storm on social media. But the story didn't end there—an even bigger surprise awaited him.
Manu plays for the age-based team of the Argentine club 'Argentinos Juniors'. Thanks to writing a letter to Messi, he has received an official invitation to go to the United States to watch the World Cup match on the field. Argentine media 'La Nacion' reported that Manu's dream is about to come true thanks to a famous Argentine brand, Messi's sponsor and commercial partner.
According to a report by La Nacion, the incident began on the 'Seria Incredible' show of 'Olga', a popular Argentine live streaming channel on YouTube and Twitch. There, Manu read out the message written to Messi, ‘Dear Leo, I wrote you a letter; because, I know, today is your birthday. I hope, it will reach you. Before the day ends, I wanted to let you know how much you mean to me.’
In the letter, the little footballer also highlighted Messi’s human qualities along with his footballing style. Manu said into the microphone, ‘When I see you play, it seems as if you and the ball have become one. It’s completely magical! I like your personality more than your game. You always help your teammates and never give up even in difficult situations.’
After the video received a huge response on the digital platform, Messi’s commercial partner company contacted Manu’s family. However, the biggest surprise came at the event, when presenter Paula Chavez read out a new letter to Manu—this time the recipient was the boy himself.
The letter read, ‘From today on, you will no longer dream alone. We want to help you write the next chapter of this story. On behalf of our entire team, we invite you and your entire family to travel to the United States today, so that you can experience your first World Cup live.’
La Nación reported that Manu will have the opportunity to be in the gallery for Argentina’s match against Cape Verde in the last 32 teams of the World Cup. Argentina will face Cape Verde next Saturday at 4 am Bangladesh time.
Manu also wrote about his dream in the original letter. He told the audience at the event, ‘I also play football for Argentinos Juniors and I have a very big dream—I want to become a professional footballer. Every night before I sleep, when I close my eyes, I pray this prayer.’
In Manu’s eyes, Messi is a living inspiration to overcome all obstacles and win. In his words, ‘Many times when I think about that dream of mine, your image flashes before my eyes. Because, you are proof that no matter how difficult a dream is, it can come true.’
Through this visit, the little fan will not only get the inspiration to take his football journey forward, but will also fulfill his dream of sitting in the stadium and seeing his greatest idol live. This initiative has been taken to honor the dedication and love of this child who has won the hearts of millions of football fans with the magic of simple words.
