Matheus Cunha scored the only goal of the game in the 24th minute as Brazil defeated Haiti 1-0 in a hard-fought FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C encounter at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.

Cunha bundled the ball home from close range to give the five-time world champions a much-needed victory. The goal came after sustained Brazilian pressure, with the striker reacting quickly inside the box to turn home a loose ball following a scramble.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side made two changes from the team that drew 1-1 with Morocco, bringing in Danilo at the back and handing Cunha a starting role in attack. Those adjustments paid off as Brazil looked sharper and more purposeful than in their opening match.

Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Brazil had to wait until the 24th minute to break the deadlock. Haiti defended stubbornly and looked dangerous on the counter-attack at times, but lacked the quality to seriously test Alisson in the Brazilian goal.

Vinicius Junior was lively on the left wing, while Raphinha and Lucas Paquetá helped control the midfield alongside Casemiro and Bruno Guimarães. Neymar, still recovering from injury, watched on from the substitutes’ bench as Ancelotti chose not to risk him.
