Brazil’s Cafu arriving in Dhaka on Dec 11

AF Boxing Promotion International Limited will organise a tri-nation friendly football tournament in Dhaka featuring selected teams from Argentina and Brazil. On that occasion, Brazil’s FIFA World Cup-winning captain Cafu will arrive in Dhaka on December 11.

This invitational tournament will kick off on December 5. On the opening day, the selected team from Bangladesh will play against the Brazilian side. On the 8th, the host team will face Argentina. In the final match on the 11th, Brazil and Argentina will meet. The Argentine representative club Atlético Charlon and Brazil’s São Bernardo Club will send their selected teams, most of whom are young talents, to Bangladesh.

The Brazilian team will arrive in Dhaka on December 2, followed by the Argentine team a day later. AF Boxing Promotion International Limited confirmed the information at a press conference held today, Friday, at Hotel InterContinental.

The organisers said they have surprises planned for this event in Bangladesh. They mentioned that Argentine legends Batistuta, Verón and Caniggia are expected to attend. However, it has not yet been confirmed which of the three will be flown in.

Chairman of the organising company Mohammad Asaduzzaman said that both teams will consist of selected under-20 young footballers from the respective countries, while Bangladesh’s team will be selected from the under-17, under-20 and under-23 squads.

Asaduzzaman expressed his belief that such an event will help the progress of football in Bangladesh. “When Brazil and Argentina come, the world media will turn their attention to Bangladeshi football. I believe that after this match, global sports investors will come forward,” he said.
