Brent Christensen confirmed as US ambassador to Bangladesh

Brent Christensen has been officially confirmed by the US Senate as the new ambassador to Bangladesh, making him the 18th US envoy to the country.

On Friday (December 19), Christensen expressed his gratitude on his verified LinkedIn account, saying he felt honoured to receive Senate confirmation as the next US ambassador to Bangladesh and thanked President Donald Trump for the trust.

An experienced diplomat, Christensen previously served in Dhaka as the Political and Economic Counselor at the US Embassy. He also held the position of Deputy Director at the Regional Security and Arms Transfer Office under the State Department’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs.

According to the official US government website, Christensen is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Counselor. He has also served as a senior officer for arms control and international security under the Under Secretary of State and most recently as a foreign policy adviser at the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM).
