Britney Spears voluntarily enters rehab for drug addiction

American pop star Britney Spears has voluntarily admitted herself to a drug addiction rehabilitation centre. A representative for Spears has confirmed the matter, international media outlet Rolling Stone has reported.

According to the report, Britney herself decided to seek treatment. Following a recent incident, those close to her believed that she needed to make changes in her life, and she herself became aware of this.

Earlier, on March 4, local authorities reported that she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs in California.

She was later detained on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs but was released on bail within a few hours.

After the incident, it was stated on Britney's behalf that she had realised the need to change her situation and was ready to seek necessary help.

Her representative further said that while this is a sad incident, Britney is trying to get back on the right track and is taking necessary steps to live a healthy life in the future.
